KWC to Celebrate Veterans' Day
On this Veterans Day (Wednesday, November 11), KWC will honor students, faculty and staff who have served in our country’s Armed Forces.
A brief program will be held at 12:15 p.m.in front of the administration building. The program will include special music by The Halos (today’s version of The Andrews Sisters) and remarks by Dr. Ken Ayers. Molly Troutman will sing “The Star-Spanged Banner” and “God Bless America,” and KWC will recognize special guests Dr. Emil Ahnell, Don Davenport and Dr. Gus Paris.
Large yellow ribbons (signifying support of American troops) will decorate the front columns of the administration building as well as trees on the front lawn.
Come out this Veterans Day to show your support and thankfulness for those who have defended our country.
UPDATE: A Veteran’s Day message to the KWC community from Major Tim Payment ’97:
”We, as Americans, owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the men and
women who have given so much of their lives to the freedoms we enjoy.
We take for granted the suffering and tremendous amount of personal
hardship of a few that has given us personal comfort in our lives.
We Soldiers are truly honored to serve the United States. When we are
told “Thank You,” we think, “Thank you for giving us something bigger than
ourselves to fight for.” We do not expect recognition for our service but
we do demand respect for our Brothers and Sisters who have made the
ultimate sacrifice in Defense of our (every American’s) way of life –
the Freedoms that we enjoy.”
